New Picture from Dad

Dad wrote me about a week ago, when he finally got to see the blog. He likes it! He also sent a picture that he talked briefly about…

It’s of me with a Romanian infantry soldier I met at the DFAC. His infantry battalion is called White Sharks, and I have his patch as a souvenir. They stay at an area of the base they call “Camp Dracula”. They carry AK’s and Dragunov’s and a machine gun (about the size of a SAW) that I can’t identify.

I post the pictures he sends on a Flickr account I created for this blog. You can see the thumbnails on the right. As new ones are uploaded they will appear at the top of the thumbnails and push the older ones down. It will only show 4 pics, but you can see all the photos by clicking on the “More Photos” link. Enjoy!

I’m a bit late in getting this up here, but I couldn’t get this off our camera onto my computer… yeah Macs! Anyway, This was about 3 1/2 weeks ago (I remember because it was the 1st Monday Night Football game) when Mom and Drew came over for dinner. It was her 1st time eating peaches and I guess they were a little tart! Enjoy…

I am being transferred to an outlying clinic for three weeks (Drew, it’s the one I told you I wanted to visit). I expect the comms to be the same, I just don’t know for sure. Let Mike know in case I didn’t get his e-mail address right.

Dad,

This is basicaly the first test of this blog, so nothing important here. But just for some laughs here is one big thing you missed this past weekend:

ECU over (8)WVU 24-3

For the second straight week, the Pirates made the most noise of any C-USA member, as they routed eighth-ranked West Virginia 24-3. It is ECU’s first upset of a Top 10 team since it stunned No.9 Miami, 27-23, in 1999. The Pirates, who upended 17th-ranked Virginia Tech to open the year, have now won three straight games against Top 25 opponents dating back to a victory over No.22 Boise State in the Hawaii Bowl last season. Patrick Pinkney threw for 236 yards and a score on 22-of-28 pass attempts, as ECU snapped a seven-game losing streak against WVU. The defense was also stout, limiting WVU’s high powered attack to just 251 total yards. The Pirates entered the Top 25 for the first time since 1999 this week, coming in at number 14. They will jump into C-USA play next weekend versus Tulane.
